A new stretch of motoway (9 Dhm toll) is open from near the airport joining the old road to Tetouan and bypassing the centre of Tangier (and saving some time too).

 

From the airport turn right at main road 2miles to motorway then head for Tetoun and Sebta (Ceuta) 12miles to the next exit [9dms] get off and you are on the main road to Tetaoun missing the nightmare of Tangiers and the rounabout.

 

AVOIDING MOTORWAY
From airport carpark follow exit road to the traffic lights at the main road (approx 1 mile).

 

At the lights turn left towards Tangier.

 

Follow this road into the centre of Tangier (approx 6 miles). There is a petrol station on the right hand side a couple of miles from the airport if your hire car has been handed over empty.

 

When you reach a HUGE roundabout / junction you need to take the second exit (effectively turn right). This is the road to Tetouan. It takes you out through a mix of residential and light industrial units into the countryside.

 

 

 

 

After about 40 miles / 60 kilometers over the hills you will descend into Tetouan and the road will become an urban dual carriageway (sort of bypass). Keep following this road and you will reach Tetouan Airport (on your right).

 

Keep straight on and you will reach the stretch of motorway currently open. Either take this or the older coast road to Mdiq, Marina Smir or your specific destination.
